About this spoken word: Writing this spoken word (chant-POETRY) started with a fuzzy elation, a definite comprehension of how poetry and art is a reflection of society. This is an experimental/avant-garde spoken word chant centered around Africa's cultural and musical influence; Afrobeats/ Fela's Afrobeat ( a prominent music genre in Nigeria/in Africa as a whole). And yes, Afrobeats has largely contributed to social change. Likewise it has the immense ability to confront social/economic challenges present in the society. Afrobeats is here to stay.
Title: the Ideal Female (this is a societal problem, Not a Kardashian problem)
Description
For centuries, women have been conditioned to view their bodies from which their worth can be seen. This spoken word delves into aspects of such societal norms, as well as society’s insensitivity towards embracing both the beauty and intelligence of “the phenomenal woman”.
